Reading time: 2 minutes

In 2022, GSS exhibited at the first in-person Sibos event since the outbreak of COVID. After a two-year absence, almost 10,000 delegates attended the hybrid event to learn about innovation in finance.

The theme, ‘progressive finance for a changing world’ was well-received by both speakers and delegates. H.M. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands opened the annual conference, presenting in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.

On day one, CEO Tom Scampion welcomed visitors to the booth and gave a presentation on GSS’ partnership with Swift. This strategic partnership will enable GSS to provide its sanctions screening solution to Swift’s global network.

On day two, GSS took part in a Fireside Chat with Dow Jones, where Tom Scampion spoke alongside Neterium’s Luc Meurant on how to balance effectiveness and efficiency in the screening of payments against sanctions data.

In the afternoon, Tom Scampion was interviewed by David Watson, Chief Strategy Officer at Swift, on Sibos TV. The two discussed the strategic vision of Swift and how GSS can help to achieve it.

On day three, GSS was a panellist on the “Collaborating on Compliance to Achieve an Instant and Frictionless World” panel, alongside Matthew Hobbs from Swift and Jocelyn Tait Norval from ING. The panel discussed the importance of collaboration in the fight against financial crime.

GSS also had a number of other meetings and engagements at Sibos, including a panel with GSS Board Member Vivienne Artz OBE, who spoke on the “Power of Data”.
